Win 2000 & HP Scanjet 5200C Problems

I have installed the updated HP software drivers from HP for the Scanjet 5200C.I then shutdown the system, connected the Serial cable and turned on the scanner and rebooted.
My problem is that the computer will not reboot, it goes through the motions all the way to a blue screen then shuts down and reboots and continues to reboot indefinetly.
I have also set the Printer Port to "Use any interrupt assigned to the port"
After loading the software I noticed in Device Manager that SCSI/RAID Host Controller developed a yellow exclamation mark.
Any ideas on getting my system up and running would be much appreciated.
Thank You

Perhaps a conflict with the printer port and SCSI/RAID host controller?

Go in your bios and make sure that LPT1 is set to IRQ 7 and, I think port, 378.

And, as bacillus asks, give us more info on your system.

Sorry about lack of info.
I'm running Windows 2000 pro on an Asus A7V using AMD 800mhz processor. Using VooDoo 5500
The system was new 5 months ago and the Win 2000 is original, not an upgrade.
If I remove the Scanjet Serial cable we are able to boot up fine but whenever I try and boot the computer with the Scanjet on and serial cable connected the problem arises.
Hopefully this is better info.
