Win 2000 dual hard drive boot question

Hello everyone

I recently had a hard drive corruption so switched to a copy of win 2000 on an old 8GB maxtor for the last two weeks of my semester

I then reformatted the corrupted 160GB seagate and installed winXP on there as D:, with the 8GB as the C: . all is good.

I now want to remove the 8GB C😀rive and replace it with another old 40GB drive for backup. however when i try to boot without the 8 GB drive It just doesnt work.

Is there anyway to repair the problem without reinstalling windows again and have the system boot with just the 160GB drive?

Thanks for any feedback in advance
