Is there any way to revert back from a botched win 2000 upgrade back to win 95?? I know, who wants win 95, but this is an old system that is having hardware compatability issues. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

This is not General Hardware related.

I don't think there is, AFAIK. Did Win95 have a rescue disk? When you say "botched" can you at least get the thing to the desktop so you cna maybe save your files to another HD or CDR?

You can just format and reinstall 95. You'll probably have to anyway, not much else to do.

I'm assuming that since you want to "revert" back to Win95 you're hoping to do so to save data. To that I say, back it up first. Seriously though, if it converted to NTFS then you need to try and finish as it is, which depending on what happened you may still be able to do. Other than that you're left with Alphazero's suggestion...

Thanks for the advice. Luckily it's a friends machine, not mine. I will guide them to try and save everything. It sounds like they can boot to the desktop and may just be having some software/hardware issues. I am going to see if I can save any critical files to a zip disk and just have them uninstall/reinstall the software and go from there.

Thanks
