I am assuming that Media Center goes away when you upgrade to Win 10? The upgrade is looking like a downgrade.

Yes 10 did drop WMC support but there are third party programs like Kodi that can do the same thing. I guess it really depends on your preferences. If you are used to using WMC then switching to a new program might be difficult.

Win10 does offer certain advantages though like DX12 support and improved multitasking among others. It does have disadvantages too like tracking and Cortana.

In the end it's up to you to decide what is a good fit and what you feel comfortable with.

AFAIK, Kodi can't view/record DRM channels, only WMC can do that, and the new PVR from SiliconDust, but, that isn't working for that either at this point in time.

Did not know that. I only have OTA channels. Thanks for the info.

I think WMC was discontinued with W8/8.1 but was an option... I really wish W10 would have left the... window... open for WMC.

I understand how capable Kodi is supposed to be, I just don't like it compared to the simplicity of WMC.

I am still to take the route on my HTPC (Waiting for Skylake NUC). But I will just move to Media Portal.

I think its just time to move on, instead of either staying on 7/8.1 or trying some workaround hack that may only work for who knows how long.

Almost.....

They don't have copy protected channels working with the hack yet, and a lot of people report problems getting extenders to work.

Support for older tuners is very iffy.
I see, thanks for noting. Personally, I don't use these things. Still have a remote control unit from Windows XP MCE 2005 though, used it a couple of times. Not for me.

2) I'd try what Shintai suggested above, I am a fan of open-source software (If it can deliver of course).
