I'm trying to use the media creation tool on my tablet and when it gets to the 100% mark of the creation process it fails with the "Modern Setup Host has stopped working" message and the process terminates. I've already cleared out the Windows Software Distribution folder and windows cleared out the $BT folder all by itself. Have any of you encountered this error while attempting to upgrade in place? Would placing the files on a thumb drive and executing them from within windows work? I don't want to bork my tablet.

Right now I'm creating a bootable 32 bit usb stick to attempt with but I don't want to wreck it lol. Thanks for any input.

Edit: The bootable thumb drive is working and is allowing me to upgrade to windows 10.

I am happy to report that using the usb drive worked and now my tablet, an Asus Transformer T100TAM, is now successfully running windows 10 home with all software working correctly. The very first two times I tried it with the upgrade in place utility it left me with a crippled touchpad which it would not allow me to do anything with or even install the latest drivers for it. Once I had rolled back to 8 I installed the newest driver for 10 and then performed this upgrade. It was still messed up when I got to 10 but at least it let me repair it this time and now everything works.

I have already faced this issue that modern setup host has stopped working. Normally this error starts appearing when the system is upgrading to Windows 10 or while using media creation tool for Windows 10. The worst thing about this error is that even the Microsoft team is not giving proper solution to fix this error. I troubleshooting some steps for this issue:
1) Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
2) Do a Clean Boot
3) Change Language
4) Delete Content in Software Distribution Download Folder
5) Run Windows 10 Media Creation Tool
After that, my problem has been resolved.
