Hi All,

Win 10 recently started adding weather, stock, sports, etc widgets to the lock screen (login screen). It's annoying and I'd like to disable the widgets. I tried the personalization > lock screen settings to turn off the widgets but nothing happens there, even after restarting.

I tried the registry change recommended here but it appears to be a Win 11 only fix. Any ideas?

Not sure if this will help but in Windows 11 there is a "personalize your lock screen" option and I have it set to "picture". One of the options is Windows Spotlight. I wonder if that is what you're seeing?

My "lockscreen status" is set to "none". The other options are "dev home", "weather and more", "mail" and "calendar".

I figured it out. It turns out that I'm a moron. The weather app was turned on in the setting just above the row of settings for other apps that were all turned off. Microsoft bundled the stock and sports widgets in with the weather widget so it appears as if multiple widgets are running. Turning off the weather widget solved the problem.

You're not a moron. It's a pain turning all that junk off without missing something. Plus everything is not all in one place so you have to hunt for each annoyance.

I wonder if one of the various privacy apps would make it easier to disable unnecessary MS junk.
