Win 10 Pro Key

I have never RMA'd a mobo before so I am curios what happens to me Windows key. It's a MSI 970 board, and I plan on moving the fx8370 to a 990fx board, thinking Asus Sabertooth. Can I resue the key, on the 990 board. I doubt I'll receive the same 970 board back. Worst case I have to buy a key for the 990, and then the rma'd return board, and just be out the original key. I just need to understand since I assume the key is now locked to the current 970 bios.

Generally, an OEM key is tied to the motherboard. However, if you are replacing a defective motherboard, you should still be ok getting it reactivated.

It likely will deactivate after switching boards, but you should be able to call in and get a new activation ID to reactivate it.
