So a few days after installing Win10 (with the USB controllers plugged in from the word go), suddenly the monitor wouldn't go to sleep. After doing some Googling I discovered that USB controllers could keep it awake even if their is no activity from them! So unplugging them confirmed that. Answer is to disable 'Selective suspend' for USB, this worked for a little while but then I found the monitor staying on shortly after! Grrr..
I double checked that selective suspend is still disabled & it is, & I even looked into the cmd prompt powercfg info & it also confirms it is disabled (see screenshot). I have discovered that if I reboot my PC it 'fixes' it for a while, not sure how long, nor do I know what breaks it again! e.g last night I was using my main PC & messing around with my 2nd PC too for a couple of hours, I noticed the screen went to sleep when it should, then just before I went to go to sleep I noticed it wasn't sleeping again!!

Btw you will notice from the screenshot that I run Folding@home, this does not stop the monitor from going to sleep when Windows is behaving itself (e.g after a reboot, or if I unplug the 2 USB controllers).
Hardware possibly related to the problem, USB CH Pro throttle, USB VKB Gladiator mk2 flight stick, primary monitor Technika TV/monitor HDMI but connected via a DP adapter (I needed the HDMI port for an Oculus Rift I was borrowing), secondary monitor (ancient :p) BenQ G700 VGA but connected via a VGA to DP lead, USB Logitech optical mouse (now this does occasionally wake or prevent the monitor(s) from sleeping, but even if I turn it upside down when the problem is occurring it makes no difference).
Further info, I do turn off the main screen when I'm done with the PC, but the 2nd screens button is shot & doesn't work, hence using/needing it to sleep. I've installed the latest AMD chipset drivers. Rig spec is in my sig (main rig).
If I don't turn off the main screen, it also won't sleep when the problem occurs (otherwise it does too).
I think that includes everything relevant! ;)

Just a quick update, well it seems to have fixed itself! So I guess that's down to a windows update?

Now I just gotta figure out how to stop Win10 spinning up HDDs when I wake the monitor........

Spoke too soon, the problem's back, sporadically at least. I have to reboot it to fix it, still haven't worked out what triggers the failure for it to sleep!

Try this. I had same problem as you, this FIXED IT for me - and getting to this solution took a lot of trial & error):

Windows key+A
All Settings
System
Power & Sleep
Additional power settings (found over on the right side of your screen)
Now back on the lest of your screen select Choose what closing the lid does
CLEAR THE CHECKMARK from "Turn on fast startup (recommended)"
Restart your computer

Take a look in the device manager, and check your Network adapter. Make sure none are set to wake the computer.
Yep, it was set to wake the computer, so I've disabled it now. Although that doesn't explain why the screen would go to sleep after a reboot.
Anyway, I'll see if that fixes it.

Windows key+A brings up the notification 'tab'.
Found the power & sleep advanced options elsewhere, their are no lid options, probably because I'm using a desktop ;) (I checked anyway, as MS quite often leave superfluous settings).

Thanks for the replies guys :)

Bloody hell the problem's back again! And their was quite a big windows update recently........
This time I've narrowed it down to the VKB Gladiator mk2 flight stick keeping it awake, but I was watching the input window for it and their was none. After unplugging it the screen will go to sleep though.
USB select suspend is still disabled, I enabled it> applied, then disabled it>applied, but no change.
In device manager, HID section I unticked all 'allow this device to wake computer' and 'allow computer to turn this device off.....', no change.

And now rebooting doesn't fix it! grrr....
I've just disabled the above settings for USB root hub, but it says it's the USB 3 which I'm pretty sure I didn't plug the stick into, so I doubt it'll work...... [edit] nope!

Guess I'll try the VKB forum too, link for reference.
