YES!!! What a great story! Hopefully, he can keep his game together for the last few years of his career since when he's on, he's possibly one of the best ever.

Looks like it was a really good game, it went to five sets, and Ivanisevic won the last set 9-7!! Cant wait to see the highlights later!!!

Poor Rafter though, didnt he lose in the final last year?

Yeap.. He almost had Sampras but then lost ALL energy down the stretch. Maybe Rafter next year since at least he has 2 US Opens. Ivanisevic only had 3 finals appearances at Wimbledon so I'm more happy that he won as opposed to Rafter.

Stupid rain! Could've watched it if it was played yesterday. Now stuck at work...:frown:

Goran Ivanisevic finally wins Wimbledon!!! :)

so, it looks like the 4th time was the charm for him him. And yes metallibloke, Rafter lost last years final to Pete Sampras in an awesome 4-set match as well.

Rafter will probably retire. Goran is still having shoulder problems so who knows how long he will be able to play.

it's soooo good to see ivanisevic win. I mean seriously he would've been a tortured soul the until the end of time if he lost this match. :)

Yeh, i saw an interview with Goran. He said that if an Angel came to him in a dream and said he could win Wimbledon at a cost of never picking up a racquet again- he would choose Wimbledon.

If he could have mastered his mental game he would have been one of the all time greats.

I'm glad to see him on top at last
