Of course MJ was awesome, but you could argue that Wilt revolutionized the game and made it popular...

In your opinion who was the better basketball player in NBA history?

Dude Wilt Chamberlain was in a Conan movie. You can't argue against that. Who did MJ star with, bugs bunny? Pfft.

Plus Wilt had over 40k women.

I think it was more like 20k. But that's still about 12k more than MJ.

I'll have to say MJ. The man revolutionized not only the sport, but sports marketing. His will to win was insane, and he usually followed through once he figured things out around 1990. Wilt's stat's are pretty amazing, and although it is said may have had more women, I wouldn't necessarily bet on it , but he does not posess as many championships as MJ.

I have to wonder if you people going with MJ are old enough to remember what Wilt really did to the NBA.

shaq with no 3 second rule = 100 points a game too

Wrong Wilt had the same 3 second rule:

In 1935, a rule was adopted that stopped any offensive player from standing in the free throw lane for more than three seconds.

In 1955, the foul lane was widened to 12 feet (3.7 meters) from the previous 6 feet (1.83 meters).

More rules have changed in the NBA as a result of Wilt Chamberlain than any other player. The 3 second rule was not one of them however.

was the widening a result of wilt? 6 feet is small- dang...3 feet from the center of the basket on the baseline!

You are asking on a board which is predominately populated by people that weren't even born when Wilt was playing, hence the overwhelming bia to MJ

Wilt the Stilt hands down, they had to change the rules because of him.

Wrong!

The width of the lane was doubled from six to 12 feet in 1951 in an effort to limit the dominance of George Mikan; more than a decade later it was further widened to 16 feet in an attempt to contain Wilt Chamberlain. Both players proved skillful enough to adapt their games to the changes, and they continued to be dominant forces in their eras.

NBA.com

What other rule changes did Chamberlain have changed because of his play? Just curious.
