Wrightsville Beach is very nice. Not a lot of public parking, though.

Try The Bridge Tender at Wrightsville for great food. There's couple more right across the water from that one, but the names escape me right now.

The USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial is there if you like that sort of thing. Most decorated Battleship of WWII.

And if you decide to live there, bring lots of cash.......real estate is not cheap.

edit: Oh, and Carolina Beach is nearby, you can drive on the beach there for a fee, if you have a 4x4.

I like Carolina Beach, good fishing right from the beach. Kure Beach, Bald Head Island and Cape Fear are nice too. Most of the beaches in that area are calm and quiet. If you're looking for something more exciting you won't be too far from Myrtle Beach, check it out if you haven't been there before.

You can find just about any kind of dining you want in Wilmington or Wrightsville Beach. Here's a good website for checking out some of the restaurants and other area attractions:

http://www.cape-fear.nc.us/visitors/restaurants.asp?search=1&cboRegion=5

I like Capt'n Bill's, Sticky Fingers, Luigi's, and Sweet & Savory Cafe .

For something different you might want to try The Wild Wing Cafe, Hollywood East Cinema Grill, Salty's if you like dancing, or Cira 1922.

If you have kids with you there's Jungle Rapids, and I second the battleship visit. They also might like The Cape Fear Serpentarium. They might like the Screen Gems Studios Tour.

There's Haunted Wilmington for the grown-ups. It's not my cup of tea, but a lot of people like it.

Lots of good antiquing and art galleries if you like that.

Just check out the area web site and you'll find lots to do. Have fun!

If you get the job, you'll be within the top 10% there. Jobs are scarce in that town. Keep your resume public and don't reject future job offers. The way wilmington businesses come and go, you'll need to have backups.
