I miss the Wonka Wash/Slugworth/Golden Geese/Fizzy Lifting Drinks

I like the new boat ride/squirrels/grandparents/and that they show what happened to the kids afterwards 🙂
 
I always figured all the other kids died... it's a horror movie isn't it? I mean one kid drowns, one kid gets dropped into a pit, another one gets blown up like a ballon... If you read the small print it says none of you will leave alive.
 
Although I am a fan of Johnny Depp, there was really no way that his version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would be better than the original.
 
I had no interest in seeing the new one. Johnny Depp playing Michael Jackson playing Gene WIlder is just wrong. They went way too far off track of the book.

Actually this one is much more on track of the book than the original was. The original didn't even share the same title as the book!

What I like? I like that Wonka is darker, because it didn't make sense in the first movie to all of a sudden have a scary tunnel and at the end have him freak out at charlie. This one, it all flows quite well.

I don't like that it seems to fast paced. It seems like everytime we get into a new room we're leaving before we know it
 
the new one sucks. Johnny Depp plays it all wrong, the one oompa loompa was lame, and their songs sucked too, basically it totally blew.

 
My kids hated the original... the Oompa Loomas scared them too much.
I prefer the original.
 
The new one to me seemed like a marketing ploy as a advertisement to buy the sound track. Didnt care for the new one really at all. Big disapointment.

QFT...however, people get too nostalgic.

Also keep in mind, it's not Depp's movie, it's Burton's.
 
I am a big fan of the original movie, Gene Wilder is a king in my book. But I really, really enjoyed the new one - mostly for reasons that many of you don't like it.

Deep Roy's Ooompa Loompa is pretty damn inventive IMHO.

Johnny Depp was pretty creepy and funny at the same time. Hard to pull that one off.

The boat ride was pretty freaky. I liked the imagery and the flashes to the Oompa Loompas were a neat dramatic effect.

The kids were all major brats and yet sorta likeable.

An almost MILF was in many of the scenes. 😛

There's more but that's enough to get me started.

Word....I loved that scene in the book...the rest of the movie just seems too reworked and superficial.
 
I havn't seen the new one yet, but the original is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid... having said that, I also read the books & the first movie really was a completely different story, which is supposedly corrected in the remake. We'll see.
 
Saw the new one last night, I don't like Depp's acting. The squirrels were the only good part, otherwise, the old one kills the new one by a mile. Sauromon's portrayal as Wonka's dad the dentist was an interesting twist.
