How he do it?

Cards are put in the right order to tell the story to begin with.

When an audience member cuts the cards the magician quickly reverses the cut using a variety of methods. Some use card crimping, others use the fact that when audience members cut cards they don't stack them perfectly on top so the cut can easily be reversed.

I agree it's a neat trick.
