Will Zalman VF-700 CU fit on 7900GT?

I?m thinking about getting a 7900GT and a 2407 or 2405FPW. I wanted to transplant my Zalman VF-700 CU on to it. Does anybody have any experience or insight on if it will fit?

I'm guessing that it will. I'm not sure how it performs on the 7900 GT cards, tho. Anyone have any insight? I'm curious, as well.

The 7800 series PCB was used on the 7900 series. The GPU is pretty much an electrically compatible upgrade from what I understand. I would think all the coolers made for the 7800 series would work on the 7900 series.

There is a small difference in the PCB, the NV silencers stick out a bit too far at the back so they need to be cut down a bit. However it looks like the 700 would still work fine as the mounting holes are the same size and roughly the same position.

I miss DHES, but I may install a Zalman VF700 on my 7900GT since it fits. The stock cooler is just too noisy IMHO.

I can't even hear mine even after 1 hour of BF2. I guess my Cool & Quiet Sonata was a good buy😀

Everything in my computer is quiet, even the stock heatpipe cooler on my CPU. This cooler is not noisy by normal standards, but my standards a little more stringent. 🙂

I ordered the VF700 CU from the egg just minutes ago. I can't wait for silence to reign supreme once again.

MyNameIsLarry: Really? What are you getting in respect to idle/load temps? Do you have two 7900s in a SLI setup?

EDIT: Disregard the SLI question -- just looked at your system sepcs. Can you provide some temps, tho?

I should mention I have the VF700AlCu, not the VF700Cu like you guys are talking about, so you might wind up with better temps than me.

Idle with the stock heatsink was around 49/50 and now I'm around 42 with the fan on the slowest speed. Can't give you load temps or much more temp info yet as I only installed it last night and haven't had much time with it.

I mostly installed it for the reduction in noise. I have a Sonata II w/ 120mm TriCool Fan on the slowest speed and a CNPS7000AlCu on the slowest speed so it was the noisest thing in my case but now I'm back to being almost silent.

Also be on the lookout for the new VF900 from Zalman- same design but with heatpipes- has fan controller included- it's up on their website now but hasn't hit retail yet.
