Will you take a check?

Put up a flyer around my college for a chemistry book and 2 supplemental chem books.

Got a phone call from someone I have never met before that wanted the $140 text book for what I was asking for it, $70.

Then she asked if I could take a check because she didn't have that much on her. I said cash only and she said she would call me back...


48 hours later, nothing...

You can call the issuing bank and ask to Verify Funds on the account before you give her the book...

A check gives her a record of the transaction. Which is generally a good thing to have when buying something of indeterminate condition. I wouldn't have bought your book for cash either. I wouldn't have minded you waiting for it to clear either though.
