I have been thinking about this latley. I'm hoping that HL2 will ship within a few months, and honestly I dont think I will be done with Doom 3 by then.

I think I'm voting yes, Doom 3 is great and all, but I have been waiting for HL2 for a long time....
 
HL2 seems like more of a game you can play around with after you beat it. Try to do things creatively, etc. Things like the gravity gun really help with this.

Thats what I am hoping for. I am excited about the physics.

I am still playing doom 3, in the communication building, I havent had the time to play for a few days, and school is comming quick, so I doubt I will finish it before Hl2
 
I stopped about 3 days after I got it. Graphics are amazing but the gameplay is borring. Monsters crawling around and jumping at you after you open a door gets old quickly. Hopefully a good mulitiplayer mod will come out for it.
 
Boy that's sad, all these people who wasted $55 on doom 3 and only playing it for like 2 days. What a waste of money. I'm so glad i didn't waste my money on that piece of crap.
 
I have a feeling HL2 is going be a let down. Plus Doom 3 came out first which means mods will be going for doom 3 already, so HL2 might not be the game to get modded.

As far as mods, I rather have them on doom 3, I think it has a better engine. (Not so sure about the multiplayer code though)

Got to feel sorry for all the people who spent big bucks upgrading their hardware to play DOOM 3, then got bored of it after a week of repetitive gameplay.

Aren't all FPS just repetitive play? Most games for that matter?
 
I think some of you have HL2 mixed up with DNF 🙂

As far as mods, I really dont know, I would think that HL2 would be better becasue it has more physics...but thats just me.

But as fart as doom, I'm hoping the moders can overcome the no alt fire, and the lack of lean in Doom 3
