Will You Purchase Something With A Rebate?

This rebate thing has me pissed. Who can remember 4 months ago what it was, and for how much! Two dollars here, three dollars here. It sounds good on the surface when you are shopping, but to jump through the hoops of cutting out the UPC codes, sending in an original (no copies allowed) receipt, etc. etc.

I think the rebate companies are hoping you forget to cross your 't' or dot your 'i' so that they can keep your money.

I won't buy anything else that has a mail in rebate!

I have had mixed results with rebates. I have recieved rebate checks back from many companies (Umax, Symantec, etc). I did wind up getting screwed by Sony of all people. It is hit or miss.

I agree that I think most companies are hoping you don't send it in, or don't do it properly. I don't let mail-in rebates factor into my buying decisions. Then again, I wouldn't completely rule out purchasing an item that has a mail-in rebate.
