I assume this is some marketing wizard's idea to toss in some publicity on top of a standard business decision.
"Conflict free" is required under the Dodd-Frank financial reform bill. What does "conflict free" have to do with financial reform? Nothing, but it's a requirement that was slipped in anyway. Big penalties for failing to comply.
So everyone is doing it. Intel is just trying to spin it and act like they are doing it for altruistic reasons.
I buy them because they're the best CPUs on the market. I can't think of a good reason to go with AMD unless you really need the cheapest option available.
