Will the Phenom II X6 1090T work on the M4A89GTD PRO without a bios update. is it possible to put this processor and update my bios?? will the board recognize this cpu before the bios update so that i can update the bios??

site says it will work only after a bios update.

Best case, it sees the cpu and posts but mis identifies it (wrong name, off multiplier). Worst case, no boot... if you dont have a cpu already in the board, i guess you have no choice but to see if it will at least post with the 1090.

I'm sure you're not interested in doing so, but you can always pick up a Sempron 140 just to handle the BIOS flash and then stow it away as a backup later if the 1090T bites the dust for some reason.

My msi 890gx booted with 1055 when I got back in may. Updating the bios with a usb drive was all it needed to install win7. So my bet is you shouldn't have an issue.

I will confirm a thumbs up on that board.... I'm using it with my 1090T, and yes without the bios update it allowed me to at least get in and update to the latest...

+1

Follow this advise. Better than taking a risk with your board.

Not sure I'd want to flash the bios of a MB with a unidentified CPU in it.. sounds like a rather dangerous thing to do..
