Will WMP import MP3s or how to check if my PSP has WMA enabled?

Got a few CDs cheap in India, but the computer I am using is owned by someone who hates new software.
So, im stuck with WMP9, I believe.
I have a PSP, but im not sure if I have enabled WMA yet or not since I have updated my firmware many times. (I started with 1.50).
So. Can WMP9 (he wont let me update to later versions of WMP), record MP3, or how do I check if my PSP can play WMA?
There is no option for mp3. Just WMA, WMA lossless, and WMA VBR.

Thanks

why don't you download sonicstage and use Atrac3, it sounds as good as an MP3 twice its bitrate and the filesizes are crazy small, i remember i got about 16 of them onto my 32mb card with the album art and still had couple megs left for saves, this was back when the psp had just released and the memory sticks were insanely expensive(relative to what they cost today) Also with Atrac you don't need M3u files to put the tracks in order, being as it's sony's format it works with the PSP without the xtra effort.

your tinfoil hat wearing friend who fears advancement may be a litte cross with you for using up 20mb of his HDD, but i say go for it and uninstall it after you're done.
