I've got a centrino notebook with a wireless b card built in that I use to connect. Was wondering if I got a g card if it would be worth it and what the difference would be. I'm mainly interested in range, not speed. I was also wondering if a wireless b card detects g networks?

G mode is backwards compatible...with B...i.e most of the time when u start G mode it will running in BGmix mode .(both G and B) ...you can connect with B card ...but it will only get u 11mbps max....

Since you asked....if the card is working ..only in GMode ...it wont be listed...b station

BG mix mode-- working in both (11mbps when conneted with b client and 54mbps when con'ted with g client)
Gonly --- only with other G client
