Is there a correlation between winning a major sports championship and the economic prosperity of the place?
From my observations of a very small sample (i.e. family and friends), people tend to spend money without regards or they tend to perform certain tasks without any complaints if they are in a happy mood. I suppose, in general, the people's mood plays into the consumer confidence index, so it would make sense to me that a winning city may experience some sort of economic prosperity due to people spending more money or doing more for the same pay. But I have not seen any data that would prove this. This is simply my own hunch.
