will windows vista ship on cd's?

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsvista/default.mspx

It's probably on there somewhere, but I'll be damned if I can find it. The only thing I could find on MS' Vista page is this, it's not definitive though.

A DVD drive that is capable of both reading and writing DVDs will be an important element of a Windows Vista PC. These drives have come down in price dramatically, and you should look for a drive that can handle both -RW and +RW formats (i.e., DVD±RW) to ensure maximum compatibility.

I'm not sure if that has been decided yet. The beta and CTP builds on MSDN are available in 3 CD ISOs or 1 DVD ISO, but I don't know if that is how it will ship.

Businesses could get a centrally used DVD drive attached to the file server. I think it would be on DVD and CD both.

I really dont think that the media type will have a signifigant impact on business deployment. By the time a business is ready to adopt vista they will likely have DVD drives.

In my deployment I'd say 75+% of the client machines already have DVD drives...

Not that this would prevent a business from standardized imaging, thus negating the need for a specific media type (or even an optical drive alltogether).

If I worked @ MSFT and this was my call I would only ship on DVD; no need to double the media types that need to be produced for the product.

I agree that Microsoft should make Vista DVD only.

But at the same time, I will state that our not-for-profit company has 45+ computers and only three have DVD drives (one is a server). But I dont see it being a problem if I could figure an easy way of doing remote network installs.
