Anyone else curious as to whether: the Windows 8 Developer Preview can be installed and run on an iPad? Would a firmware hack be required to accomplish?

Technically, there isnt any reason it can't run it. OpeniBoot worked for first gen ipads. We'd need the ARM version of W8 and they'd need to crack the bootloader in the ipad 2. i imagine if there was a ARM version of 8 right now they could get it working on a ipad 1 via OpeniBoot.

Specifically for the Developer Preview, no you cannot do it. To the best of my knowledge the ARM version isn't being released.

I imagine not, but we all know these things eventually happen.

I meant of the existing Developers Preview. At some point they will have to, but just not this version.

The current dev preview is for regular x86 and x64 PC's. Microsoft has announced that there is an ARM version of Windows 8 though, so it will be released at some point.

Ah, ok, I see now. Had a brainfart moment. :)
