Hi everyone,
I have an old emachines celeron 400mhz that i want to use to test spyware removal. I want to install win2k professional on it but emachines won't provide driver support. here are the specs from emachines:

Video: Rage IIc 3D AGP manufactured by ATI
Audio: CS42080 3D PCI manufactured by Cirrus Logic
Modem: 56K v.90 PCI manufactured by PCTel
Chipset: Intel 440LX
Motherboard: Florida-C manufactured by TriGem International

i don't need the modem and the sound has win2k drivers, as does the ati ( the drivers are supposedly included in the install). i have found an intel inf installation utility for the 440lx although it's only for up to 98SE. I wonder, does win2k come with drivers that will enable a decent desktop resolution, decent storage performance, and the ability to use my pci network card?
also my drive in it is only 4.3 GB, and I have 160MB ram, will this be enough to be usable? like I said, I am only going to use it for installing various spywares, and then trying to remove them.
any advice anyone can give me will be really appreciated
thanks,
Carl

I don't see any problems. Win2K will run just fine.

4.3Gb is plenty big enough to install the OS and your spyware apps.

Win2K has built in drivers for the i440 chipset, so you wont need to run the inf installer.

thanks for your reply. did u run the inf utility, or did xp come with its own drivers?

It runs just fine. The inf update won't find anything to update, because none of the motherboard drivers for the LX have been updated since 2000 was put out. They only update the drivers for newer chipsets.

Don't worry. It will run just fine.
