will win2k dynamically readjust if i change cpu?

just ordered a new cpu and need to reinstall win2k, will it affect anything if i install it with my current cpu (amd duron) and then switch to an athlon XP? I know win2k has multiprocessor support so thought it might detect fancy features on installation or something.
Just want a working pc as soon as poss!
 
W2K will dynamically adjust only when going from 2 processors to 1. I'm not sure how to get it to adjust from 1 to 2.

From what I remember, u do this in 2k by booting, going to device manager, right click computer, and change computer type to multiprocessor, reboot.
 
dont the sse extension calls get installed with the processor? wouldnt sse not be there even though it is supported on the xp processor and not on the duron?
someone please correct me if i'm wrong
