I am planing on upgrading my p3-450 to a p3-800 with a slocket. Will Win2k fire right up once I have installed the new chip? What are my chances? I have this system working perfectly for me and I really would hate to have to scram everything and start over..

On a side note, will I need to upgrade the bios if I dont have to ajust the power with the bios.. for the slocket is going to do that.. and sence the Multiplyer locked on the chip itself..

God I hope this makes sence!

Thanks in advance.

W2K should have no problem.

Poking around Abit's website, it's not clear if that board supports the Coppermine processors. If it does, I know the motherboard doesn't support 133MHZ bus and I don't know what flavor processor you got. 800E or 800EB (100MHZ vs 133MHZ)

The CPU is a 800E, and I have clocked this 450 with 133 bus.. it isnt very easy and I dont keep it there.. I dobut I will clock the 800E that high. I kinda fear flashing my bios, weird things can happen when one does that sometimes... So I figure that I Can drop my voltage as low as it can go, then let the Slocket drop the voltage rest of the way. So then the FSB should be 100 that I wont need to flash for..
So my only real question is the mutiplyer .. and if it locked on the CPU do I need to worry about the softmunu not haveing the right Multiplyer setting? Sorry wish I could spell better..

Thanks.
