Will we see higher memory in graphics in the next year?

With the debate about games requiring almost absurd amount of video memory, as we know few developers have announced their games will require 6+GB of video ram.

Whether its poor optimization or not, I tend to think its likely poor optimization for the PC, but still games need to expand and graphics need to get better, will we see higher memory levels on graphic cards going forward?

We'll we see 2GB graphic cards like AMD r5 260 or Nvidia 650 becoming a reality, we'll we see mainstream graphics like the amd 270 or nvidia 660 having 4GB ram as standard and have high end graphics 6GB of ram as standard?

High end graphic cards have had 2-4GB now for over 3 years, in fact about 4 years ago the geforce 480 had 1.5GB ram, 4 years later the 980 has 4GB ram, is this enough of a jump in 4 years and if not why haven't we seen better?

VRAM has more or less followed the same path as normal memory as far as I know. We might get a momentary jump due to the architecture of the consoles in the next year but I fully expect with the next process node we'll see up to about double what we do today.

GPU memory is switching over to HBM next year, it should be interesting to see what happens.

99% chance GM200 is going to have 6GB standard and I expect it will be out by January/February at the latest, so under 6 months is my guess to see it happen.
