Will we rise up if government becomes too powerful?

I can't say I'm well versed in our governments structure or processes, but for some reason I don't really see the checks and balancing system working out.

Would American citizens actually rise up and protest the government if they start doing crazy stuff, or do you think American's are just throw pillows and will just take what is served? Some people would say that crazy stuff has been happening for years.

I think the real crazy shit is a few years off, but I don't think American's will stand up for what they believe in. I do and am ridiculed for it, not to mention how much corporations are involved with the government.

Open your eyes, citizens protest the government every single day over everything you can imagine.

Fuck no. Americans have become too complacent and sheep-like. Besides, the corporations who actually run the US would never permit such a thing to happen.

Right...but I'm talking on a completely differently level. I'm talking like extreme control by the government of the citizens. Think Half Life 2.

Who would you kill and what would that accomplish?

As long as Americans get their food stamps, welfare, section 8, free cell phones, free health care, Social security checks, gas / electrical bills paid for and enjoy a Burger King whopper every week. HELL NO... And what do these people do for their free shit? Just sit around all day. DOING NOTHING.... Selling their food stamps for drugs and high on Prozac and what ever else they can get for free.

Answer is NO.

The second amendment will prevent the Supreme Coup from intervening in a state election and stealing it from the person with the most votes and giving it to the loser who will then go on to start an illegal war and ruin the country throwing millions out of work but giving tax cuts to the rich.

The notion suggested above that Americans are complacent and sheep like is only partially right. They are also in huge numbers accomplices and complicit in their own self destruction.

Lindsay lohan, tiger woods, mel gibson, lebron james ....these are the things that matter most to americans.

Honestly I don't know how much more powerful is " too " powerful. They have infected every last facet of our life and it gets incrementally worse with each passing year..

Sad but true.

I don't think the gov't here could get powerful enough to the point that it would require the people to rise up against them the way you are suggesting.

The opposite. They will grow too powerful it will be too late by the time everyone wakes up from their drug and media induced trance.

I have faith in most Americans that we'll push back if/when the time comes. It's a ways off, but I've said to my family and friends that I truly believe a revolutionary uprising will occur in my lifetime or my kids lifetimes. Of course I don't wish this to happen for everyone's sake..

The fear of government take over is just a projection of self hate. You have been completely co-opted by hate for yourself and are in constant terror of that realization. The monster under the bed is in your own head. Everything you fear has already happened. The phobic horrors we create in the real world we create to keep our attention for the real horror within. The only enemy you have is yourself and it's so so very sad.

most states would be better off returning to territory status and dump unfunded fed mandates.

The reason states don't leave the Union might also have something to do with that civil war thing about 1.3 centuries back...

Times have changed, this nation does not have the will to "Preserve The Union" anymore, if they started drafting people to try to force say Arizona to stay in The Union, I think it would make the draft riots in The North during The Civil War look like a field day.

No state has left since The Civil War, but several territories have been allowed to leave. Look at The Philippines, where the United States once did some very harsh things to the population in order to keep it in the past, it was allowed to become independent. Puerto Rico could likely vote to become independent now without incident. We gave The Canal Zone to Panama (despite Panama never actually owning it), etc.

Hell, California will nearly nullify federal law this year when they finally legalize recreational marijuana....

LOL at tea party paranoia about "big government." Yeah, it's gonna happen any year now, the "really crazy shit." Never mind that in the last 30 years we have seen a DE-regulation trend at the federal level, and never mind that our taxes are at lowest point in a half century. The gubmint, it's just creepin' up on us, controlling every facet of our lives. Time to rebel. Sure it is.

Are you trying to tell me that millions of people are insane? How could so many people be deluded like that? There must be something about the human psyche that allows folk to live in alternate realities. Can't imagine what it would be.

I think we would if it got off that bad people would start, but nothing would come of it because for every one person that was going up for the cause, another would hang back to take all his shit when he is out and about.

American's really have no common bond anymore when it comes down to it :(
