Will we learn something about Vega this week?

Impossible for anyone not in the AMD inner circle to know what he is doing there.
They might show working silicon, but, then again, I think they want the Polaris launch to go smoothly, so, that is their #1 focus.

The only thing we know about Vega is, it will be faster than Polaris, and be out before the end of the year.

Most likely a brief for AMD's AIB partners in that area of the world.

According to eSilicon/Amkor, Vega + HBM2 is not ready for mass production, until at least September. ie, it's still under qualifying stage til then.

If there's issues during this stage, it will be delayed.

We actually don't know which Vega will have HBM2. Sure, the big one for certain, but the small one could have GDDR5X and thus could come out this year as some rumors suggested. But yea, I don't think we will see HBM2 this year except in the very limited P100 from NVidia.

Well, it wasn't ever going to be more than that sort of thing 🙂

Even if they had it ready to go very soon (they don't of course, confirmed here), there's absolutely no way they'd talk about it with Polaris launching in a week!

If Raja Koduri is happy and giving thumbs up on Vega, then I would take it the rest of RTG team is happy too.

So... thumbs up + "long way to go" seems to indicate they are on track per their internal schedule.

C993 shipping on 21st June but the price is much lower than earlier. 110k down to 75k, while Polaris 10 is around 30k.

Since 480 is D000x we'll probably see new PCB shipping details later in the year.

Wait, what? When I search C993 AMD it seems to refer to Polaris 10. Rephrase your statement as if you were explaining it to your grandmother please. 🙂
