Will we ever see a NON Dell/Apple 30" Hi res LCD?

I was thinking along the lines of Eizo... 😛

...though if they made one, it would probably be in the US$20K range. 🙁

Yeah, but the backlighting and other things will be different - which could be good or bad, but that remains to be seen and depends on the company that makes it.

I do not dislike the panel. Buying a LCD online is the issue. I can buy the Apple local, but it needs some kind of special converter to use with a PC. I was hoping that a B&M brand would release one. Hence Samsung, Viewsonic, and Sony.

As long as your video card has dual-DVI to drive the super high resolution, then the Apple should work just fine. It doesn't need any kind of adaptor or converter.

I've been waiting since march for some more news on the BenQ and the Samsung 30" hi res monitors. And if I don't get some new info soon I'm gonna freak! :|

Well I would think thats a given because of the 2560x1600 resolution. But what I want to know is can any one confirm this supposed August release of information? For the BenQ I mean. =\
