And, do you think that human civilization is more than halfway to the 'end,' whatever it may be? More than 75%?

I mean for 100,00 years we have roamed the earth, and in the last 500 we have understood more in each sucessive century than the sum of all human knowledge before it. Of course if you look in the Middle East and Africa that is definitely not the case, as backward-ass civilizations prevail.

There are people who claim to be able to do that now, but no one believes them. If we ever were able to, how would anyone know?

we'd have to be able to teach them how.

Just think of where we'd be today if we hadn't lost those hundreds of years in the dark ages. Thanks a lot catholicism.

You think Catholicism caused the Dark Ages?

Not solely no, but it was certainly a major factor.

Considering that the first Dark Age occured during The Greek Reign from 1100-800BCE, I think it safe to say that Catholicism wasn't a major factor.

I'd say it exploited it, and possibly prolonged it, but I wouldn't say it was a causative factor.

i love it, any thread I create seems to either end up debating politics or religion.

I've thought about that before. Religion has really held us back. Its a damn shame some people want to keep it that way.

Unless one advanced the argument that it was a factor in the fall of the Roman Empire.

the KGB and CIA thought it might be possible, back in the 60's. are conciousness is far more sophisticated than any mere mammal, and was not meant to be tampered with

MKUltra

How do you know this? Not referring to intelligence, but to consciousness. When you say that something is more sophisticated than something else, you are strongly implying a quantitative difference, and I am wondering how you are measuring this.

consciousness is inherently part of the body. it's a product of our physical brain. a self-programming computer could have it, too. but our unconscious is what transcends the body. transcending your body is the same thing as transcending your consciousness. whatever you want to call it, it's a good thing to do, and i highly suggest it. it makes religion obsolete.
