Will walmart carry Left4dead?

So will walmart carry Left4Dead?
I'm trying to decide (if I am able) if I want to wait and purchase it in the store or pre-order online in which case the game will ship on the 17th but I won't get it for a day or two. I assume that if walmart sells the game they will have it available right on the 17th?
I don't know how these stores work or how quickly they receive their merchandise. Seems like if you can get it faster buying it locally it would be a blow to online shops.

In my experience walmart is pretty slow on new releases unless they're really big. They didn't even have Rock Band 2 the first day at the walmart by me.

Why not just get it off of Steam directly? Since it's a valve game you will have to register it on Steam anyhow to play it. That way if they let you preorder it you can download the files early and be ready on day 1.

Very true...but it's really nice to have the box.
I've installed CS:S probably at least ten different times since I first purchased it(different machines & such) and I imagine L4D will be the same. That's a lot of downloading over time.
Speaking if steam...I wonder when Valve will release the L4D download?

I would hope they would have it for download directly from Steam. That's how I plan on getting it. The box is nice but I like making sure Valve gets my money rather than giving it to EA to skim off the top for publishing a box.

I haven't bought a valve game with a box since HL1 and I don't plan on it any time soon because Steam has always worked for me. I somehow was not affected by the HL2 launch issues and could play right away.

Preorder on Steam coming real soon!

"You can pre-order the full version of the zombie-killing first-person shooter at retail outlets now, or wait until October 15 to pre-order it off Valve's Steam service. Either way will save you an additional 10% off the regular price. Left 4 Dead will invade homes on November 17."

True...but I keep the boxes to the very best games. I have probably 20 boxes on my desk from my favorite titles over the years.

Probably for L4D however I will order it through steam simply because I want to play it immediately upon release.

You can always back Steam up to optical disks, or just save the folder. I've kept the same Steam folder for years, though various OS installs.

Why do you need to back it up? Everytime I've reinstalled I've just downloaded my games again. It's not like it takes that long.

My Steam folder is over 50 Gb in size.

Even with a 20 meg connection, 50 Gb is not something Id like to redownload if a simple case of backup and transfer would work.
