Will VPU Core temp increase when memory speed is upped?

I have a stock cooler on my VPU, and no ram sinks. Was thinking about OC'ing my video card to help out with HL2.....

Currently my system is stable, but if I up my video memory speed very much, the graphics lock up. I felt around and the memory chips definety heat up more, but the GPU is covered up pretty well by the stock cooler, so I can't feel its temperature.

So my question.... If I OC' my video memory, will the VPU core also heat up significantly?

Thanks in advance...look forward to reading comments on Tuesday when I'm back.

What's your video card? If the heat sink is touching both the memory chips and the VPU, then yes, your VPU will heat up more when overclocking the memory. But you said there are no ram sinks on the memory, in this case, the VPU temperature won't increase when overclocking the memory.
But why are you worried about your VPU temperature? And why don't you overclock both the VPU and the memory if you want higher framerates?
I hope that helps.
