Two of these cards in PCI slots weeee ^___^ Would be interesting to see what kinda 3Dmark2001 score they would come up with.

Amusement factor 100% ... Usefulness 5% hmmm umm is that even a word? oh well.

Heh- I have a V2 SLI rig and a 4600+, could do a similar experiment. Do you think we'd be GPU limited? 😉

never gonna get gpu limited cause you have the mythical power of the V2 Sli
we'll be cpu limited till the end of time

Feature limited yes! but GPU limited no way?

Features = T&L, Dx8, 9, PS 1.0 2.0 3.0+, HDR, the list goes on?

The cards are very capable of playing Wolfenstine the newishy one Quake 3, HL1, and Unreal T, starcraft ^_^ doom1..? list goes on?. But the real question is how many 3Dmark scores can these cards do when given a Super CPU?

I have a Diamond Monster 3D II 12 MB card... man that was good times shelling out $300 that I saved up when I was 13 years old for that card... I might try to track down another to get a SLI rig jumpin, unless someone wants to buy this offa me 🙂

Software rendering, FTW!

Heh, I am kind of curious to see how/if this would work. Don't see why it wouldn't, probably not going to get very good marks though. I know CPUs suck at GPU tasks, but I honestly think a 4800+ could render faster through emulation. Then again, with old Glide games, who knows?

I got one of those too back in 1998, my first real video card. I have a dedicated old gaming machine with this card and an identical one I got off ebay for about $15 six years later. 😀

I think it's possible to run some of the old Glide-only games on a modern computer if a Voodoo2 is added in, but they might not work on XP and may need 98 instead.

I still have two Voodoo3 2000 (@170MHz, added active cooling). The kicked the Voodoo2's butt 😉
But the Voodoo1 / 2 I had paired with the best 2D card ever made (Matrox Millenium 4MB) was a pretty decent rig @ that time 😛

Windows 2000/XP doesn't support passthrough video cards if my memory serves me correctly. Don't be surprised if you have to use 98SE to get em to work at all. Kudos on stirring up some nostalgia for us old farts that played all the way through Half life and MechWarrior 2 and 3 on a Diamond Monster 3D 4MB.

I still have my canopus PURE3D voodoo1. Its got a whopping 2MB of extra texture memory over the standard voodoo. Thats right, 6MB total.

anyone up fro some doom 3 deathmatch on those old voodoos? with a patch, a voodoo2 sli rig will run it at 800x600 30-40fps average.

I think I saw that article. It really looked like ass and the lighting was virtually nonexistant.

But look at the bright side (pun!) - without all the shadows you can actually see and shoot the baddies without having to constantly switch between the gun and the flashlight. 🙂

Oh WOW!!

This thread is great.. The memories.

I have been working at putting a couple old machines back together. 1 voodoo1 ;1 voodoo2; 2 voodoo3 pci; and one voodoo3 agp. It will be great for some original unreal games.

......................... Now if only Duke Nukem 3D was actually 3D and ran glide..................

Have fun. 😀

Didn't Shadow Warrior have Glide? I never get it to work though.
