My guess is yes, is that correct?

Or yes... but you will need a patch etc etc, like from 98 to xp, many things such as red alert 1 needed a patch to run.

Last thing I heard was "yes" but, they make it out like the support will be worse than XP's for 16-bit apps.

They are trying to move away from the old stuff to reduce the amount of work they have to do. Supporting old stuff is a pain in the butt. Especially since it doesnt make them more money. (Anyone ever try to get Windows software for 20-year-old Motorola radios?)

Of course, all the current 64-bit (desktop) procesors support 32-bit and 16-bit instructions, so Vista shouldnt require any complicated emulators for the old programs.
Matter of fact, Master of Orion 2 runs great on my Athlon 64. Duke3D ran fine before, but the 32-bit executable I dug up runs even better.

shortylickens pretty much said this already, but to summarize, your current 32 bit applications should work fine, and 16 bit applications are not supported, just like in XP x64 today.

WOW. Windows on Windows. About the same thing as the previous WOW that support 16 bit Windows apps. Most APIs will be supported, but no support for 32-bit device drivers. So, if the app requires a device driver (example - HP PhotoSmart 1000 photo scanner (SCSI)), you will need a 64-bit device driver.

And you need 32-bit libraries for 32-bit applications, i.e. the 64-bit flash plugin (if one exists) won't work in 32-bit IE or FF. So you'll most likely have a handful of duplicate libraries laying around to make things run.

Very few will work as I'm running the OS now...It comes with IE7 64 and 32 bit and the 32 won't run so I suspect there will be some sort of plug in...also in the Programs it has one tab which allows the Proggie to think it's running on previous OS's but that's not to successful either. Here's a list of what I've found that'll work from others as well:

Programs that Work X64:

Autocad 2007 "Run as administrator"
Architectural Desktop 2007 "Run as administrator"
MS Project 2003
MS Office 2003
MS Visio 2003
MS Publisher 2003
ScanSoft Omniform 5
Corel Draw 12
Apple Quick Time, and i Tunes work, but glass is disabled when they run.
Adobe Acrobat 7 Professional
Rainlander ver. .22 desktop calandar
Gear Professional 7.01 dvd/cd recording software
Opera 9 beta 2
Peachtree Complete Accounting
Adobe Creative Suite CS2
Adobe Acrobat 3D
Macromedia Studio 8
Nero 7 Premium
MediaMonkey (Really Slow)
Winamp 5
Deer Park Alpha 2 x64 build
Thunderbird 1.5.0.2
WinRAR
IsoBuster
UltraISO 7 & 8 (minor GUI coloring issues)
Office 2007 B1TR (GUI issues)
WLM 8
Logitech SetPoint
Visual Studio Express Edition

Vista 64 OS programs that DON'T work:

Bit defender AV
NOD32 AV
Opus file manager PLUS cannot be uninstalled once it is installed.
Sun Belts "Counter Spy"
WS_FTP Professional 2006

LED, how have you gotten Adobe CS2 to work? Part of it works for me, but Bridge and InDesign must be run as admin or else they won't finish loading without an error.
