will video cameras from US work in Chile?

My friend who is going back to Chile wants to buy one, but the kid at best buy said they wont work, and his friend in Chile said they will. I dont know what hes gonna get, VHS-C or Hi/super8 probably

if anyone knows for sure, or for sure about any other countries gimme a holler.

Actually because of the higher density of South American people in Chile all of the electronics inside of the Camera have a MUCH higher chance of failure. Consumer Reports said in their May 2000 issue that only extra durable "Orange" camcorders will work anywhere inside the borders of Chile.
 
hmm, the only problem I can see is if Chile uses a different voltage to where he's buying the camera.
this is assuming the camera comes with a rechargable battery & charger which may or may not operate with the now usual 110-240V chargers which works anywhere.
 
Trying to have alittle fun with this guy, Yes it should work, Their tv's are NTSC and I believe they run 110 power in Chile but cant swear to it.
