Will vidcard OC utility work with reference drivers?

I have a Creative Labs GF2 GTS. It came with a really nice "tweak utility", complete with the slider bars to overclock both core and memory speeds. Ever since loading the NVidia ref drivers, as opposed to the Creative drivers, my utilities have disappeared. I know their still on my HD somewhere, but I haven't thought about it until now....I'm just curious.
