Will Verizon Wireless be getting any new phones soon?

Yes, the Motorola v710 is rumored to be released sometime in July. Of course, no one knows the exact date (there's a lot of speculation over at Howard Forums.

I just bought a Samsung a670 and I love it. Beautiful screen, sturdy construction and small size.

Treo 600 is coming out 7/12, supposedly... and this time it's for real... just the exact date is still up in the air. I've been waiting for this to come to VZW for 6 months.

Are all older Verizon phones chipped to work only on Verizon's network?
I have one that I'd like to use with AT&T.

Verizon is CDMA. ATT is GSM.

They are incompatible with each other.

there's also the samsung cdma/gsm phone, but it's only available through a business account. played with one here for a while, but it's too wide for me.

Yeah, I think Sprint is the only other U.S. CDMA provider.

Yup. If I was a Verizon customer I wouldn't be holding my breath.....

The biggest reason I went with Sprint. Then there is the plans and the coverage and no roaming.
If only their coverage in NY were better... come on... this is the 2nd most populated city/region... or is it #1 ?

Unfortunately, Sprint's coverage can't touch Verizon's. Verizon may not have the latest and greatest phones or the best prices, but their coverage is better than any other U.S. provider.

totally agree. switched from sprint to verizon and couldn't be happier. also, if you friends also have verizon, you save soooo many minutes with in-network calling.

btw, I have the 670 and love the phone. its very small too!! paid $100 for it after rebate. not bad for the best verizon phone out there right now.

further, the v710 will be out soon, but note that it does not have an alarm clock (big deal if you wake up to your cell piece like me), does not use t-9 text, and it is big as a brick.

Uh, for $5 you can use half of your anytime minutes as roaming. Coverage isn't an issue IMHO.
