Will Verizon FiOS allow FTP servers?

On residential accounts, not Business. Been trying my hand at this for A WHILE now, and I can't get it to go! Even in bridged mode!

Are you using the supplied router? I know a VPN is not possible with the actiontec router, not sure about an FTP

the router is bridged, so I'm using my ASUS router. But I can't even get THAT to work. FileZilla keeps failing :(

Use a different port. Verizon blocks the normal FTP one.

I thought that they stopped blocking ports last year, except for the email port to stop spambots. At least, Port 80 incoming shouldn't be blocked anymore.

Verizon services across the country are DisJointed.

As an example, I have one DSL service that was established and installed about 12 years ago.

When established it was configured with PPPOE and ports 80, 21 are blocked.

I have now secondary DSL service on a second line same place.

No PPPOE, No Port Blocking.

The old service is still the same. I.e, they do not bother to undo the configuration for the previous installation, even when they changed the configuration for new installations in the same geographical area.

To be fair and Balanced (really, not like the infamous ""fair and balance"").

Both services are very good, Bandwidth is 92% of what the contract calls for. Down time is about once in two years for few minutes.

port 21 is still blocked using "canyouseeme.org" even when all the ports are forwarded. FileZilla Server isn't very good I realized: everytime I restart my system, it stops working! I literally would have to re-download the whole package!

That's not a filezilla server problem. You have some other issue or you haven't understood the installation process or documentation.
Filezilla server should run regardless of whether your ftp ports are turned on in your router, and would serve your internal network without issue. It is possible you have antivirus blocking access to any apps using port 21.

None of my ports are blocked on FIOS. But from what I read this is not necessarily the case for everyone.

How do you have the router set up? I have the internet coming straight to my own router and the Actiontec set up after it as a switch to allow it to interface with my STBs.

actually I have my actiontec router in "bridged mode" so my ASUS router is the MAIN router, that spits out a 192 address... I keep connecting, but can't "list directory" no matter if i use passive or not

funny thing is that filezilla will no longer connect locally after I restart! I would LITERALLY have to re install it for it to work!

have you tested it over a LAN-connected computer and had no issues?
