hello, im posting this topic to give extended life to my AMD 3200+ (socketA)...

i recently bought Inno3D 6600GT AGP Version. knowing of the reputation Inno3d has here in our place(fan often breaks down fast), i looked for an alternative and found Vantec CCB-A4P lying in my stuffs. this cooler fits perfectly, but im wondering if this will be enough to cool down this video card....

Currently the video card i running @ 45deg IDLE.... stil have to test it later for LOAD temps later...

Thanks...

PS : is there an easier way to remove the stock thermal goop? its like a gum and its hard to remove...

For a 6600gt I'm guessing that you are going to need better cooling. Especially under 3D loads. Here's the spec page for the Vantec cooler. I really don't think that 8.6 cfm will cut it under 3D load. Run Rivatuner in the background and record the temps as you play a game for about 30 minutes. Then exit the game and look over the graph. The core shouldn't get much over 70C.

Might I suggest the Zalman VF-700 AlCu for your application. This GPU cooler is amazing, especially if you game alot.

There is also an all copper one that would cool better, but weighs more. Be sure to check your card for compatibility, not all 6600gt's can fit this cooler. If your card is AGP you will need to check the supported cards list.

I put this cooler on my Leadtek 6600gt AGP and it does an amazing job of cooling. The stock cooler was letting the core reach 90C at some points, so I replaced it with the Zalman and I've never seen over 65.

I'd suggest This. It's alot cheaper than the zalman and actually disperses the air outside of the case as opposed to it swirling around inside of it.

I installed one on my eVGA 6600gt and it dropped the temp a good 5-10 degrees C on both 2d and 3d clocks. Plus it's practically inaudible.

@Rockinacoustic : thanks for the suggestion, but sadly the pins on my video card is aligned horizontaly.. the one you gave has a diagonal pin alignment, so it wont fit...

Thanks
