Will UT3 be playable on my PC?

I can't find any benchmarks for a 6800 GT GPU and older CPUs. Will it be playable on low with my system?

I have:
Athlon 64 2800+ @ 2.2GHz
6800 GT
1GB RAM
WinXP

You're above min. requirements so you may be ok @ lower res. It played well in my rig @ 10x7 with a 7900gt.

Stick with UT2004. UT3 only has about 30 people playing TOTAL at any given time. Once the community heats up, then it will be worth buying.

It's sad to see such a great game with no players...

Anyways, you should be able to play the game at 800x600 2/2 or 3/3 settings if that's fine with you, I tried the demo on a P4 3.0GHz with a 6800XT (a lot slower than your 6800GT) and I could play well at 800x600 2/2, the 1.1 version of the game should also have some extra optimizations. What bothered me the most is that you can't turn of post-processing and HDR, they would definitely speed things up for lower-end machines and they aren't gameplay-critical features anyway.

Yes you can.

Set world detail to 1.
Not only is the motion blur & depth of field blur & gaudy shininess gone, you can actually see colors!

The real limiting factor with UT3 will be your CPU though, as there are some spots in some maps where you simply will not get good fps regardless of video settings due to CPU limitations.

And while the game hasn't been all that sucessful online, there are certainly more than 30 people playing at all times.

you should be ok at lower settings with screen res and graphics, i thought my system would have a rough time - i play at 1280x1024 - fx60 @ 3GHz and X1900XTX, graphics on high

It plays fine on my portable rig........x1900GT, 2GB DDR2800 and e6600 @ 2.8GHz. AVG 40FPS on 12x10 with medium/high settings. Not bad for an older card...

Your 6800GT should be able to handle that at 10x7 on medium.
