first of all there is NO copy protection for Oblivion . . . their EULA allows you to make a back-up copy for archival purposes [i did using Nero and put the original away]

no idea about the 'no DVD' crack . . .

No copy protection?? I thought it was Securom7 or something. They do use some form of dvd check though so I still have to use my disc. I tried a no-dvd crack and for some reason it gave me problems. It would freeze for 5 seconds once in awhile and give me "atapi" errors (noticed that in the event viewer). The graphics then get corrupted so I'm forced to reboot my pc to flush out the video ram (I'm unable to play any other game properly unless I reboot). So I figured the game was checking for the disc while playing and does that freezing stuff.

Not using the crack solved those problems so use a no-dvd crack at your own risk.

I've been using a no-dvd crack that I picked up on the day I purchased the game.. and its worked great. My originals rest safely, away from the curious hands of todlers..
now if I could only keep the little fingers away from the reset button!

Unplug it from the motherboard, and just reset via Windows when you want... :)

I dont trust cracks.

What I do is use a tool like ISO Buster to create an ISO of the CD and than mount it with Daemon tools. Technically the CD still exists and I dont have to use any crappy software.

Using crack from a reputable source like Megagames always worked for me.

i was using a nocd for a bit but it wouldn't load to the first screen, the one where you can select data files. so its back to the disc.

maybe i'll do what spyordie does and just mount the iso.

I've been using the nocd crack from gamecopyworld since the game came out. Still working fine today.

I can't speak definitively for Oblivion as I do not own it yet, but with Morrowind there was a Morrowind.exe and a Morrowindlauncher.exe which brought up the menu where you could select the data files. If Oblivion is similar you might be able to run the launcher, select the data files you want, exit out, and then run the Oblivion.exe or whatever it is called. It worked with Morrowind, so it might be worth looking into.

why use that when daemon-tools is free and works with all protections including starforce (with a couple extensions).

If you have the HD space, I would recommend the Daemon Tools suggestion.

QFT

But even though I have a working crack, I still bought TWO copies of the game for me and the GF to play at the same time. I coulda got away with just one and cracked it to share, BUT QUALITY GAMES NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND THIS IS CERTAINLY A QUALITY GAME!
