If I use a differant heatsink than the one that comes with the Pentium 4, will it void the warranty?

It will on AMD products so I would imagine that it would on an Intel product. AMD that I know of has even gone as far as saying that if you use a thermal compound, that it will also void the warranty.

You can't keep with the AMD stock HS/fan and thermal crap for that long.

After one year, my temps went from about 50 load to 60. I need to get a new HS/f or my proc will be the suck.

personally, I buy OEM processors and then buy a good fan. I just purchased a XP2700+ and the ThermalTake Volcano 11 for it. Plus I use Artic Silver 3.
