IMO I don't think that you'll really see much of a difference. I've never tried this though, so I could be wrong.

I tried it and found it did not... I did get better scores under most benchmarking tools, but nothing to brag about... I think 256 is fine for a win98se or winme box.

zucchini (and others) is right...with the exception of digital video/photo editing where quantity is king, 256megs is all you need. for anyone else readong with only 128megs, i DEFINATELY recommend going to 256megs, but more than that doesn't really help. i have 384megs and if i take out a 128meg stick i don't really notice a difference.

Yer I experimented with 384mb before. Perormance wise I can hardly notice any difference. But decided that my server is struggling a bit with only 128mb left ^^ So I decided to give it back to her ^^

With Win 98SE, I didn't notice any gain going from 256 to 384. But since I had the extra DIMM, I figured it would be safer in the box than stored in a drawer. (3 Boys in the house between 9 and 14 years old.....) So there it stays until I find a better home for it. (Hopefully in a slot A motherboard with at least a gig T-Bird :) )

I just upgraded from 128 to 384 and didn't notice hardly any difference. Maybe a slight difference in some games, but nothing major. I'm running WinME. I'm about to build a second system and will probably put 128 of it in there.

The only thing I noticed going from 256 to 384 of RAM was that when I looked inside my case, all my DIMMS were occupied.

I went from 128mb to 256mb and load times in games have decreased a lot. I don't think 384mb is needed.
