I was one of those morons who hoped the new supreme court would not push their political agenda and just interpret the law as written. Sadly this has not been true. Donald is still fucking us. And it will continue years after he dies.
I think people should consider the idea that the Supreme Court has always been a political body and has never done that.

Already considered, and, no.
Plenty of times a conservative majority has voted to protect rights of blacks and women and even gays. THIS one is much worse and the fact old Donald stacked the deck tells me its more than a coincidence.

Making money off religion is one of the biggest cons ever devised. Jim and Tammy got rich off religion, so did Jerry Falwell and certainly Pat Robertson. Billy Graham discovered there was real money in acquiring political affiliations, and Robert Schuller discovered he could build crystal cathedrals to rake in the dough. Frankly, most if not all evangelist have figured out the con, figured out how to get rich by evading the tax system and praying on the poor, the weak and misguided. It's a business, not a religion. And anyone can start one, all you need is a bible and a great hairstylist. Evangelist successfully pray off the simpleminded, and Donald Trump figured that out on day one when engaging in his political endeavors.

Yup. As far as I can tell it is that government is required to give religious groups money but is also prohibited from putting conditions on how they spend that money.

So basically if government tries to do anything they have to funnel massive amounts of money to religious people.
If this is so then the logical fallout in my opinion should be a focused message day and night that the country can only be saved by the destruction of the Republican party, that they must be voted out of office, sufficient liberals elected, to pass laws to reign in the court either by packing it or impeaching the justices now sitting who support this kind of rubbish. Secular schools are not religious, can't teach it and are there purely to provide an educated public not a religiously indoctrinated one.

The only issue that should come up with religious schools is that they not be funded by the state. They are only schools in pretense. Their purpose is indoctrination and offer secular subjects as a side benefit to justify their existence. Any seeking government funds should be closed.

If religious schools can get government funding then secular schools should be able to teach atheism and the elimination of religious belief from society, period as well as getting government funding to do so.

I think this analysis by an ex Christian fundamentalist is profoundly instructive of what is going on. Elsewhere here there there is an excellent thread on what is happening in the Federalist society.

Honestly it’s scary to think just how pervasive Christian nationalism has become in politics and it’s even scarier that most people don’t even realize it, on all points of the political spectrum.

I remember watching a story around the time that David duke was trying to get into politics and a white nationalist was saying the days of klan meetings and pointy hats is over, from now on it will be business suits and politics. I remember thinking, lol good luck with that, no one is going to buy your politics and believe you. Boy was I wrong!

Still fresh in my memory is how Mitch McConnell rammed his SCOTUS picks through the Senate while blocking Obama's nomination. I will always hold him accountable for how duplicitously hypocritical and despicable he is as a statesman and human being for the way he manipulated the SCOTUS selection process to his liking.

You would only suggest this when the majority is conservative, yet they have ruled in liberals favor several times already. Sure you can point to their realization that killing unborn babies is not a right but they did not overturn the election as all the libs feared they would among other leftist rulings.

Lol at self-labelled small govt types who are okay with politicians handing out the taxpayers' money to religious groups in order to buy votes.

We hand out money to schools. A Christian school is a school. Nothing wrong with that.

You said them not overturning the election was a liberal result when all it was was not ending American democracy.

Again, hilarious self ownage. You now agree that liberals want to keep democracy and conservatives don’t.

Lol at peeps hanging with Lucy in the sky with diamonds…
Jesus is a hell of a drug, not even rivaled by LSD.

Picture yourself on a pew in a church,
your Rosary has tangerine beads and marmalade string.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
a priest with kaleidoscope eyes...

Stained glass windows of yellow and green,
towering over your head,
look for the Virgin with the sun in her eyes
and shes gone

The supreme court is not ending democracy.
They are just showing us our democracy is already ruined. They can manipulate the wording of current laws and get wildly different outcomes any time they want. We could pass better, more specific laws so they wouldnt need so many rulings and would not be able to alter how things work in this country. But we choose not to, cuz we're complacent. If at one point in the last 50 years we had voted in congressmen who would have made abortion a right and not a state decision, we'd have legalized abortion now. But theres far too many complacent "good guys" and like history has shown many times already, the bad guys dont need to be the majority. They just need to be motivated.

The very best we ever had was 82 percent. Thats not great either. And it was a long time ago. The greatest country on earth should be like 99 percent voter turnout.
And given we've heard republicans flat out declare they need to stop blacks from voting, I think I know part of the problem.

On an unrelated note, a guy recently posted this on a image site and said it was PROOF that Biden stole the election.
I do not understand his claim. And he claimed no one could cuz it required math and IQ. I think he's just a dumbass but its fun to see how badly those people use critical thinking skills.
