Will Tuniq Tower fit? Should I lap it?

Made you look...

I'm getting the Sunbeam Tuniq Tower 120 and the ABit IP35 Pro. Will it fit fine?

Also, I read the post about thermal paste and was wondering if the stuff that comes with the Tuniq Tower is reasonable, or if not, what's good?

And, should I lap it? What kind of performance increases could I expect?

Thanks

I came in here expecting pink leprechauns! :| This thread does not deliver.

EDIT:

While I can't comment on your particular board I will tell you that the past that comes with the tuniq and most modern coolers btw are more than adequate.

Anyhow, i believe the tuniq comes flat. So i dont think you'll need to lap it.

If anything you may want to lap the CPU isntead. But you should only do this after you tested it out vigorously so you dont need to worry about warrenty issues.

I dont know what tim comes with the tuniq, but personally i havent used any prebag'd tim on any sink. I bust out either my shin etsu, or my IC DIAMOND. Depending on application.

Whether you'll want to lap or not dpends on whether your CPU/heatsink needs lapping!

Place your CPU upside down on the ehatsink and hold it against a light source. If you see flashes of light between the 2, especially if they're in the middle region not just the outer region, then you should lap. Cross check each piece agaisnt something you know to be very flat, to check which of the two needs lapping badly, or if you should lap both.

By lapping my Scythe Infinity and CPU my temps went down 13°C! And they're still not perfectly flat.

Edit: I think theres a great deal of variation on how flat the same heatsink is. Heatsinks are relatively cheap, and therefore are not verified to be flat. Temperature differences during shipping (or during manufactiring when soldering) can also cause a heatsink to not be flat anymore.
--> If you're lucky you'll get a flat heatsink. I bought a special ruler to check if a surface is flat of ebay, and my next heatsinks and CPUs will be bought locally if possible so I can check them out 🙂
