Will this work?

I need to add a couple more connections at my living room drop. Currently my setup looks like:

Cable modem --> router --> switch ---> living room PC

server, laptop computer, 2 HDHomeRuns

Could I add another switch at the living room drop, plug the HTPC into that, as well as the other network devices I need to add?

I think it would actually reduce load on the line between the switch and HTPC because now, I stream Internet, DVD's, and four QAM signals over a single CAT6 cable.

If I could add the switch, all that would be streaming over the CAT6 cable would be Internet and DVD's. I could move the QAM signals to the living room switch and keep the bandwidth in that node.

Hypothetical setup would look like:

Cable modem --> router --> switch ---> living room drop --> switch --> HTPC, 2 HDHR's

Eh, the diagram didn't come out right. But you guys should get the gist of it. 🙂
