Hello All,

I have an old AMD 1700+ with 1.5 GB Ram on an old ECS K7S5A motherboard laying around the house.

I got wondering, If I slapped a PCI SATA Controller on it, a couple 1 TB hard drives, and a Sapphire ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB AGP Graphics card.... It would cost me less than a couple hundred bucks to have a storage PC. (running XP Pro on it).

My question is this.

I would want to put it in my entertainment center connected to my 50' Plasma TV by VGA or DVI.

Would this be enough computer to run HD Divx files or Blu Ray Rips?

AMD 1700+
1.5 GB PC133 Ram
Insert cheap video card (just needs to be capable of running HD video)

 
Don't know much about the X1650 but wouldn't hurt to check if it has hardware acceleration. Otherwise, try to find a AGP 3450 or perhaps one of those difficult to find PCI nvidia 8000 series cards.
