Cable modem > switch > WRT54GL

Will the Linksys router broadcast a wireless signal okay? Or will I have to configure the router so that it is not acting as a router? Thanks.
 
I'm no expert but I believe that you'd need a router before the switch unless you're getting multiple IPs from your provider. Otherwise what addresses will the other PCs on the switch be using? You could do cable modem > WRT54GL > switch. That's basically how my network is setup.

I don't see the point of this configuration but if the switch isn't connected to anything else then it would work in therory. If you connect anything else to the switch then you would have a problem as the modem doesn't know where to send it's only IP address.
